Bhubaneswar, April 12 -- A shocking case of alleged human trafficking has come to light from Biramitrapur police station area in Odisha's Sundargarh district, where a 20-year-old woman was reportedly sold for Rs 1.5 lakh on the pretext of providing her a job.
According to the complaint, a local woman lured the victim with the promise of employment. After the victim agreed, she was taken to Rourkela on January 3 this year and kept at an undisclosed location.
Later, she was allegedly taken by another youth to Katni-Jabalpur area in Madhya Pradesh, where she was sold for Rs 1.5 lakh. The victim's family has also levelled serious allegations of sexual exploitation during her captivity.
