Bhubaneswar, July 2 -- Expecting imminent arrest, suspended Inspector-in-Charge (IIC) Sandhyarani Jena filed an anticipatory bail petition before the Orissa High Court. Jena, the former head of the Talachua Marine Police Station in Kendrapara district, was recently suspended following severe allegations of subjecting a woman and her son to third-degree custodial torture.

Following the allegations, a criminal case was formally registered against Jena on June 1, at the Talachua Marine Police Station, reportedly. The police department invoked several serious provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) against the suspended officer.
