Bhubaneswar, March 16 -- Suspended Biju Janata Dal (BJD) MLA Sanatan Mahakud cast his vote in the Rajya Sabha elections at the Odisha Legislative Assembly on Monday and launched a sharp criticism of the party shortly after exercising his franchise.
Speaking to the media after voting, Mahakud said he voted according to his conscience and in the interest of the state.
"I have voted for the candidate whom I believe will work in the interest of the state," he said.
Despite being suspended from the BJD, Mahakud participated in the Rajya Sabha election process and exercised his right to vote. He also clarified that no one from the party had contacted him regarding the voting.
