Bhubaneswar, Aug. 30 -- The threat of another flood emerged along the Subarnarekha river in Odisha's Balasore as incessant rainfall continued to push up its water level. The possibility of a third flood raised concern among residents less than 14 days after the second flood receded.

Six gates of the Galudih Barrage in Jharkhand were opened which resulted in a further rise in the river's water level. Low-lying areas of Jaleswar, Bhograi and Baliapal blocks might face fresh inundation if the situation worsens.

Subarnarekha's danger level stood at 10.36 metres. Its water level was recorded at 8.84 metres as of 6 am on Sunday. Several villages, roads and agricultural fields remained submerged during the previous flood. Communication was als...
