Bhubaneswar, April 14 -- A Class 5 girl student from an ashram school in Rasgovindpur block of Odisha's Mayurbhanj district has died after falling seriously ill due to suspected food poisoning on Tuesday.

According to reports, the student was among over 150 children who complained of illness after consuming 'pakhala' (fermented rice) at the hostel of Kakabandha Ashram School. The affected students experienced symptoms of diarrhoea and vomiting and were initially admitted to Rasgovindpur Community Health Centre for treatment.

While most of the students recovered after primary medical care, several others whose condition did not improve were shifted to Pandit Raghunath Murmu Medical College and Hospital in Baripada for advanced treatment....
