Bhubaneswar, Oct. 7 -- A major push to improve road connectivity and safety in western Odisha seems to be on the cards, with proposals for six-laning the Sambalpur-Cuttack stretch of NH-55, building four underpasses and constructing an overbridge near Sambalpur City railway station.

The proposals come amid growing traffic on key highways in the region, driven by rising industrial, mining and commercial activities. Sambalpur MP Dharmendra Pradhan has urged Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari to take up the projects on priority.
