Bhubaneswar, May 10 -- A bullet-injured elephant carcass was recovered from Talaganda Nala under the North Ghumusar Forest Division in Odisha's Ganjam district on Saturday evening.
Forest officials said the elephant, estimated to be around 10 years old, was discovered after information about the carcass was received by the department.
Preliminary assessment suggests that the carcass was around three to four days old when it was located. Officials suspect that the elephant was allegedly shot by poachers, reportedly from Nayagarh district.
