Bhubaneswar, March 18 -- At least seven people were killed, and several others sustained grievous injuries after a massive fire broke out in a multi-storey residential building near Shri Ram Chowk, close to the Delhi Metro's Palam Metro Station in southwest Delhi on Wednesday morning, officials said.
According to the Delhi Fire Services and Delhi Police, nearly 30 fire tenders were rushed to the spot to douse the blaze and carry out rescue operations.
A fire control room official said a distress call was received around 7 am reporting a fire in a building located in Gali Number 2 at Shri Ram Chowk near the metro station. Firefighters were immediately deployed to the location to contain the flames and rescue those trapped inside.
