Bhubaneswar, March 21 -- Senior Congress leader and former Odisha PCC chief Jayadev Jena alleged on Saturday that he received death threats earlier this month, raising serious concerns over his safety.
Jena stated that a threat message was first received on March 9, reportedly after he spoke out against alleged mining mafia activities. He had addressed a large public meeting earlier on February 6 in Keonjhar, where he strongly criticised illegal mining operations.
Following the meeting, the Congress leader Jena claimed he began receiving threatening messages. Despite lodging a complaint with the police, he alleged that no concrete action has been taken so far.
