Bhubaneswar, Sept. 25 -- A former senior clerk has been sentenced to four years of rigorous imprisonment in a bribery case involving Rs 5,000. The verdict was delivered by the Vigilance Special Court in Bargarh on Friday.

The convicted employee, identified as Gobardhan Meher, was working as a senior clerk at the Bhatli tehsil office of Bargarh district in 2016 when the case was registered against him.

According to the case, Meher was accused of accepting a bribe of Rs 5,000 from a farmer in connection with a particular matter. A complaint was subsequently filed with the Vigilance Department, leading to legal proceedings against him.
