Bhubaneswar, Aug. 29 -- Four cases of scrub typhus have been confirmed in Sanabagadari village under the Khamar Community Health Centre in Odisha's Angul district. This prompted the Health Department to step up surveillance in the area.

As per reports, blood samples of suspected patients have been collected and sent for testing. A health team will visit the village regularly for the next 15 days for treatment and awareness activities.

Scrub typhus is caused by bites from tiny tick-like insects found in areas with grass, bushes, leaves and other vegetation. It can cause fever, headache and body ache.
