Bhubaneswar, July 17 -- All schools and Anganwadi centres in Odisha's Sonepur district to remain closed on Friday.

The District Collector announced the closure as a precautionary measure in view of the continuing rain in the district.

According to the official announcement, all educational institutions and Anganwadi centres across Sonepur district will remain shut for the day.

The area witnessed heavy rainfall under the influence of the low-pressure system affecting the region.

The decision was taken to ensure the safety of children and minimise any risk posed by the prevailing weather conditions.
