Sambalpur rain fury: Check dam breaks, two breaches flood farmland; Odisha Min assures relief
Bhubaneswar, Aug. 9 -- A check dam broke following continuous rainfall at Solaghara in Sambalpur district. This created two breaches and inundated several hectares of agricultural land.
Floodwater entered farmlands in the affected area, while sand deposits also spread across some agricultural fields. Panchayati Raj Minister Rabi Narayan Naik visited the area and reviewed the situation.
A local resident said, "The water from the check dam could not be released. When we tried to redirect its path, it did not help. After the check dam swelled, it broke from the other side.
