Rs 500 bet goes wrong: Youth swept away by deadly current in Yamuna River after being dared by friends
Bhubaneswar, April 15 -- In a heart-wrenching incident, a 21-year-old daily wage worker from Bhagpat city in Uttar Pradesh became a victim of a tragic bet that cost him his life.
The dare, presented by his friends, was simple - jump into the treacherous Yamuna River and swim to the other side for a 500 rupee reward. Despite his initial hesitation, the youth identified as Mohammed Junaid was coaxed into the challenge with promises of help if things went wrong.
In the viral video, as Junaid jumped into the river, the powerful current quickly swept him away. Instead of rescuing him, his friends watched from the shore, filming the ordeal on their phones.
They did not attempt to save him until he had disappeared under the water....
