Rs 50,000 bribe to release mobile phones! Odisha Vigilance arrests ASI, Home Guard in Bhubaneswar
Bhubaneswar, June 18 -- An Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) of police and a home guard were apprehended by OdishaVigilance officials on Wednesday over an alleged bribery case in Bhubaneswar.
The accused ASI has been identified as Rajesh Kulu, he was posted at the Mancheswar police station. He was reportedly caught red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 20,000. Vigilance officials confirmed that both the ASI and an accompanying home guard were detained during the operation.
Vigilance carried out the investigation following a formal complaint detailing extortion from within the police station. According to reports, ASI Rajesh Kulu and home guard Jyoti Ranjan Behera had initially demanded a total bribe of Rs 50,000 from a person whose phone...
