Rs 21 crore spent on textbook printing through private presses in Odisha
Bhubaneswar, June 23 -- The Directorate of Textbook Production and Marketing (TBP&M), Odisha, has clarified that part of the printing work for textbooks meant for the 2026-27 academic session was outsourced to private presses due to extensive revisions made to the books.
The clarification comes amid a controversy over errors found in newly introduced textbooks for Classes I to VIII in government schools. According to TBP&M, around Rs 21 crore was spent on outsourcing the printing work for the academic year.
The issue surfaced after a review of 55 textbooks prepared by the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT) under the National Curriculum Framework (NCF) reportedly detected 1,678 errors.
