Bhubaneswar, May 30 -- Allegations of large-scale irregularities in the implementation of the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana have surfaced in Odisha's Bhadrak district, with beneficiaries accusing an LPG distributor of collecting money without providing gas connections.

According to complaints, women applicants have been running from office to office for nearly two years after applying for LPG connections under the scheme. Beneficiaries alleged that Rs 2,500 is being charged for obtaining a gas connection under the Ujjwala Yojana. However, despite making the payments, many have not received their connections, while subsidy amounts are reportedly being credited in their names.
