Bhubaneswar, Nov. 3 -- A couple from Bhubaneswar was arrested on Tuesday for allegedly cheating a Bengaluru-based man of Rs 1.47 crore on the pretext of selling him a plot in the capital city.

The accused have been identified as Srimanta Kalas and his wife, Soumya Subhadarshini Kalas.

The couple, residents of Tankapani Road in Bhubaneswar, allegedly posed as owners of different companies to gain people's trust and carry out the fraud.

According to the complaint, the couple allegedly took Rs 1,47,60,000 from Sudhir Panigrahi, who is based in Bengaluru, promising to provide him with a plot in the Saheed Nagar area of Bhubaneswar.
