Bhubaneswar, Sept. 12 -- Odisha Vigilance on Friday intercepted a vehicle carrying Rs 5 lakh in cash, allegedly sent by Rourkela Superintendent of Excise Dhaneswar Barad. The action followed inputs that he collected a substantial amount of bribe money from excise licensees.

Based on the information, a Vigilance team had been monitoring Barad. The team intercepted a Scorpio bearing registration number OD-14AD-1314 in front of the Excise Superintendent's Office at Uditnagar in Rourkela while the cash was allegedly being sent through a salesman of a local wine shop.

According to reports, the salesman admitted that the Rs 5 lakh were given to him by Barad for delivery to the Excise Superintendent's residence. When confronted, Barad also adm...
