Rising attacks on census workers spark safety concerns in Odisha
Bhubaneswar, April 24 -- Incidents of attacks on census enumerators have raised serious concerns over the safety of government staff engaged in fieldwork across Odisha.
In a recent case from Kamakshyanagar in Dhenkanal district, a man and his two sons were arrested and sent to jail on Thursday for allegedly assaulting a census worker who had visited their residence for data collection.
The Kamakshyanagar incident is not an isolated one. Reports of similar hostility towards census personnel have emerged from other parts of the state as well.
