Bhubaneswar, Aug. 28 -- More than 20 lakh vehicles in Odisha are under the Transport Department's scanner for prolonged non-compliance with mandatory requirements, including insurance, fitness certificates, permits, pollution certificates and tax documents.

Owners who fail to regularise documents or respond to show-cause notices within the stipulated period may face strict action, including moving vehicles from the temporary archive to the 'Permanent Archive' category.

Transport Commissioner Amitabh Thakur said vehicles without documents are being treated as non-compliant and warned that failure to respond to notices could invite action.
