Bhubaneswar, July 11 -- The Sibling Deities of the PuriSrimandir, Lord Jagannath, Devi Subhadra, and Lord Balabhadra will be offered Dashamula Modak, a traditional Ayurvedic medicine. The deities will be offered the Modak on Saturday on the auspicious occasion of Ekadashi.

The ritual is a vital part of the secret healing process during the ongoing Anasara period. This is the period in which the deities are believed to recover from a fever contracted after the Snana Purnima.

On Dashami on Friday, the prepared Ayurvedic medicine was formally deposited in the storehouse, or Garada Graha, of the temple.

On the same day, the Chaturdha Murti were placed on wooden platforms, known locally as Chaka.
