Rama Devi University student murder case: Prime accused gets life imprisonment; 5-year jail for co-accused
Bhubaneswar, June 29 -- In the much-discussed Jharaphula Nayak's murder case that rocked Odisha, the main accused has been sentenced to life imprisonment, while another accused, Amaresh Rout, has been awarded a five-year jail term.
Giving its verdict, the court sentenced the main accused, Rakesh Swain, also known as Nandiya, to life imprisonment. The verdict was pronounced by the Jajpur District and Sessions Court on Monday.
According to the case diary, the incident dates back to January 26, 2021. Jharaphula, a student of Rama Devi Women's University, was taken to an OYO hotel located in Bhubaneswar's Jagamara area by her male friend, Rakesh Swain.
