Rakhi ahead, BMC raids sweet shops over food safety in Bhubaneswar
Bhubaneswar, Aug. 27 -- With Rakhi around the corner, the BMC Food Safety team carried out raids at several sweet shops in Bhubaneswar on Thursday. The inspections were conducted on shops located along Jagamara Road as part of a food safety check ahead of the festival.
A special team reportedly focused on the quality of chhena used by sweet makers. The officials checked whether the cottage cheese was being adulterated and also inspected other food items kept for sale.
During the inspection, adulterated and stale food items were reportedly found at some of the shops. The findings raised concerns over the quality of sweets and other food products being sold to customers during the festive season.
