Bhubaneswar, May 25 -- In a significant political development in Odisha, Biju Janata Dal (BJD)Rajya Sabha MP Debashish Samantaray resigned from the party's primary membership on Monday. He stated that he felt he was "systematically belittled" and that the party no longer required his services.

In his resignation letter addressed to BJD president Naveen Patnaik, Samantaray expressed gratitude for being nominated to the Rajya Sabha and for the opportunity to serve the people of the undivided Cuttack district and raise Odisha-related issues at the national level.
