Bhubaneswar, Sept. 24 -- Amid heavy rainfall triggered by a Deep Depression, school holidays have been extended in five districts of Odisha. The districts are Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Gajapati, Koraput and Rayagada.

The decision has been taken in view of the prevailing weather conditions and the possibility of further heavy rainfall in the affected districts. Earlier, educational institutions in eight districts had been shut as a precautionary measure following weather warnings.

The Deep Depression over north coastal Andhra Pradesh and adjoining south Odisha has been moving north-northwestwards and is gradually weakening. However, its influence continues to bring heavy to very heavy rainfall to several parts of Odisha.
