Bhubaneswar, Sept. 22 -- A man was arrested in Bhubaneswar for allegedly duping a job seeker of more than Rs 44 lakh by promising to secure a railway job.

The accused, identified as Jitendra Kumar Bagarti alias Jitu, was arrested by the Mancheswar police.

According to the complaint, Jitu allegedly claimed to be an influential person and assured the complainant that he could arrange a job in the Railways.

Police said the accused allegedly collected more than Rs 44.76 lakh from the complainant in several instalments. The money was reportedly paid through both cash and bank transactions.
