Bhubaneswar, Sept. 26 -- Rough sea conditions along Odisha's Puri coast triggered concern on Saturday as strong waves lashed the shoreline and reportedly washed away a temporary roadside shop.

Large waves were seen repeatedly hitting the coast amid high tide conditions, while the impact was particularly visible near Mangala Muhana. According to reports, a stretch of sandbank extending up to around one kilometre from Baliapanda collapsed due to the continuous pounding of the sea.

Waves measuring around two to three feet were reported along the affected stretch. In several places, sandbanks nearly three feet high were also seen collapsing as the rough sea continued to erode the shoreline.
