Bhubaneswar, Sept. 11 -- A leukaemia patient was allegedly given the wrong blood group during treatment at the Puri District Headquarters Hospital on Thursday. The administration reportedly left her critically ill.

Pradarshini Pradhan, whose blood group is A-positive, was allegedly given B-positive blood during a transfusion.

According to her family, Pradarshini later got critically ill and vomited blood. She was later shifted from the Puri District Headquarters Hospital to a private hospital in Bhubaneswar for further treatment.

The incident has raised questions over how the wrong blood group was issued by the blood bank and how the transfusion was administered without the blood group being verified.
