Bhubaneswar, Sept. 30 -- Public darshan at the Shree Jagannath Temple in Puri will remain closed for four hours on Wednesday in Odisha due to the scheduled Banakalagi ritual. Devotees will not be allowed to have darshan of Lord Jagannath and the other deities from 6 PM to 10 PM.

The temporary suspension of darshan is being observed to facilitate the Banakalagi ritual, an important ritual performed at the temple. The ritual is scheduled to begin after the completion of the second Bhogamandap ritual.

During Banakalagi, the faces of the deities are given a special form of decoration and adornment. As the ritual is performed as a confidential temple ceremony, public darshan is kept closed during this period.
