Bhubaneswar, June 17 -- Tension erupted at the Malkangiri District Headquarters Hospital following the death of an eight-month pregnant woman, with her family alleging medical negligence and accusing doctors of failing to provide timely treatment. The deceased, identified as Bandana Mondal, died at around 6.30 am on Wednesday, after she was first brought to the hospital following a suspected snakebite.

The woman's relatives alleged that despite repeated requests, she was not admitted to the hospital and was later asked to return home. Hospital authorities, however, denied the allegation and said she was treated as per protocol before leaving the facility.
