Bhubaneswar, April 27 -- A 6.1-magnitude earthquake struck Japan's Hokkaido in the early hours of Monday, according to the Japan Meteorological Agency. The quake occurred at 05:24 JST (01:54 IST) and registered a seismic intensity of "5+" in the central Tokachi region, with parts of the area also recording an intensity of "5-".
Authorities have urged residents to remain vigilant for possible aftershocks. The agency advised people in affected regions to stay calm and follow official updates.
