India, Oct. 8 -- Repeated theft of electricity wires disrupted water supply in Saraswatipur panchayat under Pipili block in Odisha's Puri district, forcing villagers to depend on a well and canals for their daily water needs.

The village reportedly receives water through a system that pumps water from the Bhargavi River. However, the repeated theft of electrical wires affected the functioning of the water pump. This left residents without regular water supply.

Women Forced to Fetch Water from Far As the water supply got disrupted, women in the village were seen carrying pots and buckets and walk long distances to fetch water for drinking and cooking purposes.
