Bhubaneswar, April 2 -- In a major push towards 'drug-free Odisha' mission, police have intensified their crackdown on illegal narcotics trade across the State. Acting under a strategic drive, the authorities in Subarnapur district seized a massive quantity of Ganja (cannabis) within a very short span, dealing a significant blow to drug trafficking networks, sources said on Thursday.
According to official sources, nearly 14 quintals of cannabis, estimated to be worth over Rs 15 crore, have been seized in the district over the past four days. The drive is part of a larger initiative led by Odisha Police following the successful control of Maoist insurgency, now shifting focus toward eliminating drug-related crimes.
