Bhubaneswar, Aug. 4 -- The Foreign Currency Non-Resident FCNR (B) Deposit scheme in the prestigious Punjab National Bank is designed for Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) who wish to keep their savings in foreign currency while earning interest.
Who Can Open an FCNR (B) Account?
Only Non-Resident Indians are eligible to open an FCNR (B) account. Applicants from Pakistan and Bangladesh require prior approval from the Reserve Bank of India (RBI). However, Indian officials posted at Indian embassies in these countries, along with their non-resident family members, are permitted to open such accounts.
The account must be opened by the NRI personally and cannot be opened by a power of attorney holder in India.
