Paradip Port scripts history ahead of PM Modi's inauguration, berths capesize vessel from Australia
Bhubaneswar, Sept. 7 -- Odisha's Paradip Port on Sunday successfully berthed the massive Capesize vessel MV Mineral Kwangyang at Western Dock No. 1. It was the first time that a Capesize vessel with a draft of 16.5 metres was successfully berthed at the dock.
According to reports, the 292-metre vessel arrived from Hay Point Port in Australia with 152,702 metric tonnes of coking coal. Its berthing was successfully completed on a trial basis ahead of the Prime Minister's inauguration of the Western Dock berth.
Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal said Paradip Port in Odisha achieved a significant milestone with the successful berthing of its first-ever Capesize vessel at Western Dock-1.
