Overflowing Mahanadi inundates Ansupa Lake, worsening flood crisis in Cuttack
India, July 31 -- Floodwater from the Mahanadi entered Ansupa Lake in Odisha's Cuttack district, inundating the lakeside park and affecting several low-lying areas along the river, officials said on Friday. Water has risen to waist level inside the park, while the boating ticket counter remains submerged, bringing tourism activities at the popular destination to a halt. The rising water has also added to the flood concerns in several parts of the district.
The flood situation has worsened in Athagarh, Tigiria and Banki blocks as several panchayats continue to remain under the impact of the swollen river.
