Bhubaneswar, Aug. 13 -- Odisha Vigilance on Thursday arrested two former officials of Tirtol Block in Jagatsinghpur district for their alleged involvement in the embezzlement of government funds amounting to more than Rs 3 crore.

The accused have been identified as Bhanja Kishore Behera, former Senior Revenue Assistant (SRA) of Tirtol Block, and Pradipta Kumar Mallik, former Panchayat Executive Officer (PEO) of the block. Mallik is a retired official.

According to the Odisha Vigilance, an investigation into the alleged financial irregularities, covering the period from 2011-12 to 2021-22, revealed a systematic misappropriation of government funds amounting to Rs 3,02,95,000.
