Bhubaneswar, March 26 -- More than 76,000 beneficiaries linked to ineligible ration cards have been removed from the system. Over 7.8 lakh deceased persons were been deleted from records, the OdishaAssembly was informed through a written reply on Wednesday.
According to the information placed in the House, a total of 76,467 members listed under 21,329 ineligible ration cards were removed. The data indicates that ration cards were earlier issued to government officials and affluent individuals, who were not eligible under the scheme.
The removal process was carried out as part of efforts to streamline beneficiary records and ensure that entitlements reach eligible recipients.
