Over 100 dead as heavy rain and storms batter Uttar Pradesh; Prayagraj worst hit
Bhubaneswar, May 14 -- Uttar Pradesh was hit by heavy rain and severe storms on Thursday, claiming over 100 lives across the state. Prayagraj reported the highest fatalities with 21 deaths, followed by Bhadohi with 18, Mirzapur with 15, and Fatehpur with 10.
Other districts, including Unnao, Badaun, Bareilly, and Pratapgarh, also reported multiple casualties.
The sudden weather shift brought high-speed winds, uprooting trees and electric poles, damaging houses, and blocking roads. Many residents had to seek shelter under trees and flyovers as debris and tin sheds were swept away.
