Orissa HC slaps Rs 1 lakh fine on Odisha Govt for 333-day delay in filing appeal
Bhubaneswar, July 6 -- The Orissa High Court imposed a fine of Rs 1 lakh on the Odisha government for a 333-day delay in filing a writ appeal against an order on the regularisation of a retired nominal muster roll (NMR) employee.
According to a report by The New indian Express, a division bench comprising Chief Justice Harish Tandon and Justice MS Raman dismissed the state's application seeking condonation of the delay. The bench also rejected the writ appeal, holding that the government failed to show sufficient cause for approaching the court beyond the prescribed 30-day period.
