Bhubaneswar, June 30 -- A protest over civic issues in Cuttack took a political turn on Tuesday as the Odisha Janata Congress (OJC) staged a demonstration outside the Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC) office, accusing the civic administration of failing to address chronic waterlogging and alleging corruption.

The protest soon escalated into a 'war of words' between OJC leader Giribala Behera and Cuttack Mayor Subhash Singh.

OJC workers held donation boxes as part of their symbolic protest, claiming the civic body had failed to carry out timely desilting of drains and ensure proper functioning of water pumps during the monsoon.
