Bhubaneswar, June 25 -- A youth allegedly drowned in the Brahmani river near Kadalipali village under Rengali police station limits in Odisha's Angul district on Wednesday. The deceased has been identified as Rajesh Gochhayat.

According to reports, the incident occurred when the police Special Squad conducted a raid following a tip-off about a gambling operation allegedly being run in the village located along the riverbank.

According to sources, three individuals allegedly tried to flee the spot after noticing the police team. In an attempt to evade arrest, they reportedly jumped into the Brahmani river to escape.
