Bhubaneswar, March 25 -- Odisha recorded an average of nearly four murders a day in 2025, according to the crime white paper tabled by the state government in the Odisha Legislative Assembly on Wednesday.
The report, released by the Home Department, presents a detailed overview of the law and order situation in the state. It states that a total of 1,304 murder cases were registered during the year, highlighting concerns over serious crimes.
Overall, 2,29,881 cognisable offences were recorded across Odisha in 2025. Among these, 353 cases of dacoity, 1,802 cases of robbery, and 6,282 burglary cases were reported. Authorities also registered 6,053 cheating cases and 1,095 incidents of rioting.
