Bhubaneswar, Sept. 24 -- Heavy to very heavy rainfall continued to lash several parts of Odisha on Thursday morning after the deep depression over the Bay of Bengal made landfall near Kalingapatnam late Wednesday night.

The weather system continues to influence conditions across the state, triggering widespread rain in southern, western and northern Odisha. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned that intense rainfall may continue in several districts over the next two days.

Nabarangpur district has been placed under a red alert, with extremely heavy rainfall likely at isolated places.
