Bhubaneswar, Sept. 8 -- The Odisha Vigilance on Monday apprehended two revenue officials of Puri district for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 35,000 in connection with a mutation case involving conversion of agricultural land to homestead land.

The accused have been identified as Kalyani Jena, Revenue Inspector (RI), and Purna Chandra Behera, Assistant Revenue Inspector (ARI), both posted at Siula RI Circle under Pipili Tahasil in Puri district.

According to the Vigilance, the complainant had applied under the prescribed government procedure for conversion of his agricultural land into homestead land. When he approached the RI office to enquire about the status of his case, Jena and Behera allegedly demanded Rs 35,000 to...
