Odisha Vigilance arrests junior engineer for taking Rs 32,000 bribe
Bhubaneswar, July 11 -- OdishaVigilance officers apprehended a junior engineer on Friday in Odisha's Mayurbhanj district for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 32,000. The accused official has been identified as Sushil Kumar Singh.
As per reports, Singh is stationed at Badasahi Block and was caught during a targeted operation.
According to sources, Singh allegedly demanded the money from a field supervisor, known locally as a mate. The mate was engaged under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) scheme.
The supervisor was overseeing a local road construction project worth Rs 5 lakh within a gram panchayat under Badasahi Block.
