Odisha Vigilance arrests govt school headmaster for taking Rs 15,000 bribe
India, Oct. 5 -- The Odisha Vigilance on Monday apprehended the headmaster of a government upper primary school in Khordha district while allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 15,000 to release funds under the Mid-Day Meal (MDM) scheme.
The accused has been identified as Shaikh Rayaz Alli, headmaster of a government UP school under Balipatna block.
According to Vigilance, Alli allegedly demanded the bribe from his predecessor, a former headmaster of the school, for releasing the reimbursement amount through a cheque. The former headmaster had reportedly incurred expenditure under the MDM scheme for four months while awaiting allotment of funds.
