Odisha to introduce digital prescriptions to curb unnecessary antibiotic use
India, Aug. 24 -- The Odisha government is planning to introduce a digital prescription system aimed at curbing the unnecessary use of antibiotics and tracking prescriptions and consumption. The initiative will digitally record the medicines prescribed by doctors, including the duration of treatment, helping monitor how frequently patients are being prescribed antibiotics.
The system is expected to be launched under the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM) through a dedicated application under 'Aarogya Setu 2.0'. The move comes amid growing concerns over antibiotic misuse and antimicrobial resistance.
