Bhubaneswar, Oct. 16 -- Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Thursday announced plans to build an additional 2,91,666 houses under the Antyodaya Gruha Yojana. He also extended the scheme by two years, until 2029.

The move aims to provide housing to more eligible families, particularly poor and vulnerable households left out of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY).

According to a report by The New Indian Express, the total project outlay will remain unchanged at Rs 7,550 crore. However, Rs 3,500 crore earmarked for house repairs will be diverted towards constructing new houses.

CM Majhi also directed the Panchayati Raj and Drinking Water Department to conduct a survey to identify additional eligible beneficiaries.
